Thursday Morning

I wanted to go for a run first thing when I woke up this morning, but I decided it was too icy - I didn't want to fall over and hurt myself. 

Volevo andare a correre per prima cosa quando mi sono svegliata stamattina, ma ho deciso che era troppo ghiaccio - non volevo cadere e farmi male.

So instead I went for a walk with Macchia. We went to Frai, Moscio and then came back home. 

Quindi invece sono andata a fare una passeggiata con Macchia. Siamo andate a Frai, Moscio e poi siamo tornate a casa.

The sky was very nice this morning. 

Il cielo era molto bello questa mattina.

I came back home and ate some eggs for breakfast and then I did some strength exercises. 

Sono tornata a casa e ho mangiato delle uova per colazione e poi ho fatto degli esercizi di forza.

Dragon and Macchia finally fell asleep and stopped running around like idiots!

Dragon e Macchia finalmente si sono addormentati e hanno smesso di correre come idioti!

Just before 11 o'clock I went for a run and then came back home and ate a bowl of pasta with courgette, pepper and tuna for lunch. 

Poco prima delle 11 sono andata a correre e poi sono tornata a casa e ho mangiato un piatto di pasta con zucchine, peperone e tonno per pranzo.

Piz Tri Vertical - Winter Edition! ❄

 Finally winter has arrived!

Finalmente l'inverno è arrivato!

This morning I set off from home and did the PizTri Vertical course up to Campel di Landò. 

Stamattina sono partita da casa e ho fatto il percorso per la PizTri Vertical fino al Campel di Landò.

In Malonno when I left home, it was snowing lightly but as I made my way from Moscio up towards Tomel and then Cap di Landò, it was snowing a lot heavier. 

A Malonno, quando sono uscita di casa, nevicava leggermente ma mentre mi diressi da Moscio verso Tomel e poi Cap di Landò nevicava molto più forte.

In Wales, it doesn't snow that often so I am not used to wintry conditions. But I loved the adventure this morning!

In Galles non nevica così spesso, quindi non sono abituata alle condizioni invernali. Ma ho adorato l'avventura di questa mattina!

The final wall to Campel was very difficult this morning. There was a lot of snow and it was very windy. Probably best if I don't tell my Mum what I get up to here in the mountains!

Il muro finale per Campel è stato molto difficile questa mattina. C'era molta neve e c'era molto vento. Probabilmente è meglio se non dico a mia mamma cosa combino qui in montagna!

But I made it to the finish and then ran back down to Malonno via Vent and Lezza. 

Ma sono arrivata al traguardo e poi sono tornata di corsa a Malonno passando per Vent e Lezza.

I didn't see anyone and it was so peaceful! 

Non ho visto nessuno ed è stato così tranquillo!

I was happy to be able to go for a run in the snow this morning because I was able to try out my new adidasTERREX Agravic Tech Pro Trail Running Shoes. I didn't get wet or cold feet and I was very impressed with these shoes! 

Stamattina sono stata felice di poter correre sulla neve perché ho potuto provare le mie nuove scarpe adidasTERREX Agravic Tech Pro da trail running. Non ho avuto piedi bagnati o freddi e sono rimasta molto colpita da queste scarpe!

These days I just can't stop smiling. Malonno is magic!  

In questi giorni non riesco proprio a smettere di sorridere. Malonno è magico!

My Morning Run

This morning I went for a run.

Stamattina sono andata a correre.

First, I met Giacomo Zaina. He told me to go slowly and that I was going too fast. 

Per prima cosa ho incontrato Giacomo Zaina. Mi ha detto di andare piano e che stavo andando troppo veloce.

"Piano, piano. non vai troppo veloce!"

I was running downhill so obviously I was able to go fast! 

Stavo correndo in discesa quindi ovviamente sono stata in grado di andare veloce!

I then saw some children who were walking to school. They said hello to me.

Poi ho visto alcuni bambini che andavano a scuola a piedi. Mi hanno detto ciao.

"Ciao Heidi!"

I ran past Daniela Bianchi who said it was a bit cold. I agree but when you are running, you quickly warm up!

Ho superato Daniela Bianchi che ha detto che faceva un po' freddo. Sono d'accordo ma quando corri ti riscaldi velocemente!

I ran towards the industrial estate and there I met Alex Moreschi getting out of his car. 

Ho corso verso la zona industriale e lì ho incontrato Alex Moreschi che scendeva dalla sua macchina.

Alex wins the English prize for today. 

Alex vince il premio inglese per oggi.

He greeted me with a big bright "Good Morning!" Bravo Alex! 

Mi ha salutato con un grande "Good Morning!" Bravo Alex!

So the next time I see you all in the street, let's see who can greet me in English like Alex. 😉

Quindi la prossima volta che vi vedo tutti per strada, vediamo chi può salutarmi in inglese come Alex. 😉

Happy Monday everyone!

This morning I took Macchia for a walk in the woods and up to Valicella. 

Stamattina ho portato Macchia a fare una passeggiata nel bosco fino a Valicella.

The cows are in the field. 

Le mucche sono nel prato.

The rocks are on top of each other. 

Le rocce sono una sopra l'altra.

Macchia is in the middle of the road. 

Macchia è in mezzo della strada.

The trees are glowing in the sunlight.

Gli alberi splendono nella luce del sole.

Valicella in the shade. 

Valicella all'ombra.

The grass is covered in frost.

L'erba è ricoperta di brina.

Macchia likes to run fast. 

A Macchia piace correre veloce.

The road back towards Odecla. 

La strada del ritorno verso Odecla.

I love my life here. 

Amo la mia vita qui.

Just some Saturday evening thoughts

The day after I arrived here in Malonno last year for my au pair experience I set out to go for a walk in the woods and somehow got lost whilst also managing to fall over running uphill... In the end I made it out of the woods stumbled into the road, came across a sign for Malonno and took a picture.

Il giorno dopo sono arrivata qui a Malonno l'anno scorso per la mia esperienza au pair, ho deciso di fare una passeggiata nel bosco e in qualche modo mi sono persa riuscendo anche a cadere correndo in salita ... Alla fine sono uscita dal bosco ho trovato un cartello per Malonno e ho fatto una foto.

So much has changed since I took that first pic but today I took another just to remind myself of how far I've come and that getting lost every once in a while isn't a bad thing. In fact it's the getting lost, falling down, setbacks & hardships that help to write a more interesting story.

Sono cambiate tante cose da quando ho scattato la prima foto, ma oggi ne ho scattata un'altra solo per ricordare a me stessa quanto sono arrivata  lontano e che perdersi ogni tanto non è una brutta cosa. In effetti, sono lo smarrirsi, il cadere, le battute d'arresto e le difficoltà che aiutano a scrivere una storia più interessante.

I may be that same timid, slightly naive girl from Wales who stumbled uphill in the woods last summer but I've fallen over and picked myself back up many many many times since then & every day living here in Malonno, my dream home surrounded by the mountains makes me want to do better, to be better.

Potrei essere la stessa ragazza timida e un po' ingenua del Galles che è inciampata in salita nei boschi la scorsa estate, ma sono caduta e mi sono rialzata molte, molte volte da allora e ogni giorno vivo qui a Malonno, la mia casa dei sogni in montagna mi fa venire voglia di fare di meglio, di essere migliore.

The ups & the downs - grateful for it all. It makes me smile to think the best is yet to come because right now life feels pretty damn good.

Gli alti e bassi - grata per tutto questo. Mi fa sorridere pensare che il meglio deve ancora venire perché in questo momento la vita è dannatamente bella.

La mia curva preferita...

Maybe I am a bit crazy but I have a favourite bend here in Malonno. 

Forse sono un po' matta ma ho una curva preferita qui a Malonno.

This is it! È questa!

Last year when I stayed in Malonno for my au pair experience with Guido, Paola and their children at Sim Informatica, every morning I would get up and go for a run or on the bike. 

L'anno scorso, quando sono stata a Malonno per la mia esperienza (au pair) con Guido, Paola e i loro figli alla Sim Informatica, ogni mattina mi alzavo e andavo a correre o in bici.

On these mornings when I went on the bike, I would ride up the road by Cornola and then take the road towards Loritto. 

In queste mattine, quando andavo in bici, salivo la strada per Cornola e poi prendevo la strada per Loritto.

It was during these mornings that I discovered my favourite bend. It is hard to describe exactly why it is my favourite... but I love it because you can see the beautiful panorama of the mountains. Especially on the downhill. 

È stato durante queste mattine che ho scoperto la mia curva preferita. È difficile descrivere esattamente perché è la mia preferita ... ma lo adoro perché puoi vedere il bellissimo panorama delle montagne. Soprattutto in discesa.

Storytime with Macchia 🐶

I'm very lucky because the sun always shines on my house for most of the day.  

Sono molto fortunata perché il sole splende sempre sulla mia casa per la maggior parte della giornata.

The sun shines through the two big windows and makes the living room nice and warm. 

Il sole filtra dalle due grandi finestre e rende il soggiorno piacevole e caldo.

After lunch, I like to sit in the sunshine and read my book. 

Dopo pranzo, mi piace sedermi al sole e leggere il mio libro. 

Today I sat outside on the steps in the sunshine to read and Macchia kept me company!

Oggi mi sono seduta fuori sui gradini al sole a leggere e Macchia mi ha tenuto compagnia!
